Carpet Overlocking
With carpet overlocking (also known as ‘whipping’ or ‘serging’), a woollen or synthetic border is stitched to the edge of the carpet using a specialised machine.
The result is an attractive, consistent, hard-wearing, and long-lasting finish that prevents fraying of the carpet and enhances the overall aesthetic of the finished piece.
Premier Carpet Edging can either match the colour of the existing carpet as closely as possible from our selection of hundreds of yarns, or edge the piece in a contrasting colour of your choice.
Carpet overlocking is an excellent choice and is the standard finish for most rugs, runners, caravan and car mats, etc.
Flat Tape binding
New for 2022, Premier Carpet Edging are now able to offer cloth tape binding in addition to carpet overlocking services.
With cloth tape binding, a cloth tape is folded around the carpet edge & then sewn onto the carpet to achieve a wide bordered finish of approx 60 mm.
This protects the edges from fraying or unravelling, and provides an attractive, durable and high-class alternative to carpet ‘whipping’.
The ability to stitch the tape to the carpet is subject to the suitability of the carpet.
However, we have also created a system that allows the cloth tape binding to be applied to thicker quality/styles.
